ER316L Stainless Steel TIG Welding Filler Rod is a molybdenum-bearing low-carbon austenitic stainless steel filler rod for corrosion-resistant TIG (GTAW) welds. Supplied as straightened 36" (914 mm) cut lengths in 0.045", 1/16", 3/32", and 1/8" diameters and 1, 2, 5, and 10 lb packs, it matches 316 and 316L stainless and excels in chloride, marine, and chemical-service environments. Select your diameter and pack size above.

Key Features

  • 2–3% molybdenum for superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance
  • Low-carbon (≤0.03% C) to resist sensitization and intergranular corrosion
  • Designed to match 316 and 316L stainless base metals
  • Excellent performance in chloride and marine environments
  • Bright, clean, ductile weld deposit

Ideal Applications

  • Welding 316, 316L, and 317 stainless steels
  • Marine, coastal, and saltwater-service equipment
  • Chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical process piping
  • Food and beverage processing equipment
  • Pulp, paper, and other corrosive-service fabrication

Available Sizes & Recommended Amperage

Diameter Recommended Amperage
0.045" (1.2 mm) × 36" 40 – 90 A
1/16" (1.6 mm) × 36" 70 – 110 A
3/32" (2.4 mm) × 36" 100 – 160 A
1/8" (3.2 mm) × 36" 120 – 210 A

Recommended amperage ranges are general guidelines; optimal settings vary with base-metal thickness, joint design, tungsten selection, and welding position. Store filler rod in a dry location to prevent oxidation and ensure clean welds.
