HYW E309LT-1 (309L) Stainless Steel Flux-Cored Welding Wire — All Position

Regular price $144.21 Sale

HYW E309LT-1 (309L) Stainless Steel Flux-Cored Welding Wire is an all-position, gas-shielded stainless steel flux-cored wire built for 22Cr–12Ni stainless and dissimilar joints — joining stainless steel to carbon or low-alloy steel. It lays a tough, crack-resistant bead with low spatter and easy slag removal. Select your diameter and spool size from the options above.

Key Features

  • Available in .035", .045", and 1/16" on 10 lb and 25 lb plastic spools
  • All-position FCAW-G design for stable, out-of-position welding
  • Ideal for dissimilar joints — stainless to carbon / low-alloy steel
  • Reasonable ferrite content for crack and intergranular-corrosion resistance
  • Low spatter, good bead appearance, and easy slag removal
  • Lower welding fume than solid wire, with superior usability

Ideal Applications

  • Welding 22Cr–12Ni stainless and heat-resistant steels
  • Dissimilar joints: stainless steel to carbon / low-alloy steel
  • Buffer / overlay (under-) layers on clad steel before stainless overlay
  • Repair and maintenance of mixed-metal stainless assemblies

Typical Chemical Composition

Typical all-weld-metal analysis (wt %). Single values are maximums per AWS spec; iron is the balance.

Element Typical (wt %)
Carbon (C) 0.03 max
Chromium (Cr) 22.0 – 25.0 (typ. 23.5)
Nickel (Ni) 12.0 – 14.0 (typ. 13.0)
Manganese (Mn) 0.5 – 2.5 (typ. 1.5)
Silicon (Si) 1.0 max (typ. 0.7)
Molybdenum (Mo) 0.5 max
Phosphorus (P) 0.04 max

Mechanical Properties

Typical as-welded all-weld-metal properties; values meet or exceed AWS A5.22 minimums.

Tensile Strength 80,000 psi (550 MPa) min — typ. 88,000 psi (605 MPa)
Yield Strength (0.2% offset) typ. 62,000 psi (425 MPa)
Elongation (2 in / 50 mm) 30% min — typ. 35%
Ferrite Number (FN) 8 – 15 typical

Available Sizes & Recommended Amperage

Diameter Recommended Amperage
.035" (0.9 mm) 125 – 250 A
.045" (1.2 mm) 150 – 300 A
1/16" (1.6 mm) 200 – 400 A

Recommended amperage ranges are general guidelines; optimal settings vary with base-metal thickness, joint design, shielding, and welding position. Keep wire in a dry location and use promptly after opening — flux-cored wire is moisture-sensitive and should not be stored long in high humidity.

⚠ WARNING: This product and the fumes and gases produced when welding it can expose you to chemicals including nickel and hexavalent chromium compounds, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer, and manganese, which is known to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.
